Believe it or not, there are plenty of opportunities to see live music for FREE in and around Lancaster. You don’t have to travel far to be a part of the music, and we have the downlow for you…

Picnic in The Park

When & Where: 25/06/2017, Chorley, Astley Park

In Chorley’s Astley Park, this weekend (25th June) is an extravaganza of music, entertainment and much more! The perfect free opportunity to grab a bunch of friends, some snacks and drinks and relax in the park alongside entertainment- which won’t cost you a penny! With a stage show between 12 and 4, top performances from local bands and singers, and also face painting, a circus workshop, arts and crafts and other games! There will also be a surprise ‘celebrity’ guest! Chorley park is just over a 30-minute trip by train, and the park itself is a ten-minute walk from the station! What a great day out!

Blackpool Jazz and Blues Festival

When & Where: 01/07/2016- 02/07/2017, Blackpool, Various Locations

This event is held in the iconic seaside resort of Blackpool, returning for its third triumphant year at the infamous Winter Gardens. The event will also hold an outdoor event on the Saturday in St Johns Square, with a variety of live jazz and blues music being played. Entry is completely free, and all donations made at the event go to supporting Trinity Hospital- so even if you end up buying a little something, you are doing a good deed! Promoting creative and improvised music, this characteristic event this could be the perfect alternative free music scene for you and your friends.

Sausage, Beer and BBQ Festival

When & Where: 01/07/2017, Botany Bay, Chorley

The organisers of this festival have combined three of the best student delights in one, with a variety of international beers, ciders and gourmet sausages, Botany Bay is giving you more than one reason to attend! You can meet the brewers, and the many people behind the local beers. Not only this but there will be much entertainment, including some live free music from a local musician Brian Hobbs. There will be many free tasters of the drinks, to tantalise the taste buds. So, grab your flat mates, drive down or hop on a train and indulge in some tasty treats and delightful drinks!

St Annes Music and Arts Festival

When & Where:

This three-day live music event is a must-not- miss in Blackpool. As the town, known for its booming entertainment, they aren’t slowing down with this one. With two stages with music ranging from acoustic music to comedy, along with a fun fair, arts and crafts and food, this is a great free event to go to! Brass Bands in the Park

When & Where: Every Sunday, Happy Mount Park, Morecambe

Every Sunday between May and September in 2017, the best brass bands from the North West will be making their way to Happy Mount Park in Morecambe to strut their stuff. This free live music is programmes to begin at the park at around 2.30pm, and lasts for a whopping 2 hours, with an interval. No need to book tickets, just turn up, bring a picnic and embrace the brass!
